Dummies 101 Introduction to Formula 1 Autosport Tracks

Posted by admin on July 3, 2008 in Sports Management

A traditional F1 course by & large features a portion of straight road on which the starting lines are to be found. The pit lane, where the Formula 1 drivers pull in for fuel and tyres during the F1 race, & where the Formula One constructors work on the Formula 1 cars before the Formula 1 grand prix race, is usually to be found next to the starting rows. The layout of the remaining parts of the race circuit changes significantly, even if in countless examples the race track is made in a clockwise direction. Those few courses that go anti-clockwise (and therefore have for the most part left-handed corners) could cause grand prix drivers health troubles due to the massive amount of lateral forces produced by Formula 1 cars pulling their body in the reverse direction to normal. Click here to find information about Formula 1.

A numerous number of the courses presently in operation are exclusively created for racing days. The current street tracks are the Circuit of Monte Carlo & Melbourne, Australia even though grand prix in other urban cities come & go (E.g. Las Vegas & Detroit) and plans for such races are regularly talked about ? most recently London and Beirut. More than a few other race tracks are also entirely or partly laid out on normal roads, like that of Spa-Francorchamps. The charm and love of the Monaco Formula 1 race are the important reasons why the race course is still in use even today, since it’s thought not to meet the harsh safety rules imposed on other courses. Three-time F1 World champion Nelson Piquet notably illustrated racing in Monte Carlo as “like riding a bicycle around your own living room”.

MY PASSION FOR BASEBALL

Posted by admin on April 24, 2008 in Sports Management

MY PASSION FOR BASEBALL
What is something you are passionate about? Passion is contagious and feeds off this positive energy. Have you ever seen two people who truly love the game of baseball talk about baseball?

I have a friend’s wife tell me once that we can remember every play in a game we watched or played in but why is it that we can not remember a simple grocery list that is given to us. Some of us can recite stats for their teams 50 years ago. We can tell who played in what World Series and who the winning pitcher was and who hit the game winning homerun, off of whom and what pitch. Why is that?

A lot of my childhood memories are tied to baseball. I remember spending hours hitting a rock in front of my house pretending to be my idol Rod Carew. I used to mimic his stance and his loose wrists. I wanted to be just like him. I made myself into a switch hitter because of him. As I grew older the demise of my professional career was that I could not hit the breaking ball. I could sit on that fastball and hit it out of the park but as soon as they took something off or put a break on it I could not hit it. So there went my dream of a professional career but not my passion for the game.

I have been playing softball for the past 10 years. My guys and I have been part of the same league for over 10 years. Another team in the same league played for the same amount of time. I remember saying to myself that wouldn’t it be cool if all of us can be playing together like this other team when we are 40 something. We were all in our 30’s and this team was in their 40’s. Well I catch myself thinking now wouldn’t it be cool to be playing ball in our 50’s like these guys are.

Every year this team beat us. We never beat them. It had almost become an obsession for me to beat them. This year we finally did. After the game I was talking to the captain and kidded him that now I can die in peace. He replied by saying that it has been true joy playing us these past years because he can tell we loved the game and played like it.

Why do a bunch of “old” people continue to play the game of softball? I truly believe that we can not give up the love of baseball and the passion we have for it. It is part of us and it has shaped who we are. If you looked at each one of us in our profession or home life, the way we live our lives are similar to how we play the game. Getting back to the earlier question on why is it that some people can recite stats or remember every play in a game? It’s the love we have for the game of baseball. The passion and the love for the game helps define who some of us are. Find your passion and share it with the world and make each one of us that much better for knowing you.

The DivotMat is a unique swing aid that allows golfers to see precisely how the club is coming through at the moment of impact with the ball. The DivotMat works by leaving a visual mark on a specially-printed paper image of a golf ball. The mark provides accurate feedback by showing the exact position and direction of the golf club in relation to the target ball. The DivotMat can be used by golfers of all skill levels in any area were there is enough room to swing a club safely.

Diving the Zenobia

Posted by admin on April 17, 2008 in Sports Management

The Zenobia, in the surroundings of Cyprus, is a very interesting wreck for divers to meet due to its size as well as to the good conditions in which it is, usually described as intact. The Zenobia was a ship which was sunk in 1980 after suffering problems in its computer controlled system area.

Divers who wish to meet this wreck would have to dive about 42 meters into the water where it sleeps. An important part of it can be easily accessed and seen, although there are some areas where divers might find it almost impossible to be able to access them or explore them.

Once divers reach the Zenobia, they are able to see a ferryboat with one hundred and eight loaded articulated lorries. Each Zenobia’s lorry was transporting different cagos, and still some of them can be observed just the way they were when the ship was sunken. This way, divers who approach the Zenobia’s lorries could see cargos of objects such as toys, paint and eggs among many others.

The Zenobia’s engine room is a legendary area among divers due to the difficulty it presents for them to reach it and have access to it. Some divers have been able to access this area after going through many difficulties, and it is not advisable for divers who do not count with an important amount of experience on their past to try to explore this area.

The Zenobia’s engine room has been almost unreachable for divers through the pass of time, and many of them have seen it as a challenge. This is due to the fact that, until a few time ago, this room’s entry point had remained hidden and divers had found it impossible to access this area unless they could find such point.

Cyprus is very strict on its rules regarding wrecks and the respect divers show for them. It is forbidden for divers to take a souvenir from the Zenobia or damage it any way. Thanks to this, this wreck has remained almost intact and nowadays visitors can observe it just the way it looked when it was just sunk.

Playing Fantasy Football and Choosing Top Picks

Posted by admin on April 12, 2008 in Sports Management

Fantasy football is a huge industry. Every fall, millions of people around the world participate in the games. Some do it for money, some for just fun, and others for the ever-important bragging rights. Playing fantasy football and choosing top picks are the obsession of so many as the NFL season approaches, that taking a look at strategies for making the right picks is appropriate. Here are some strategies you should consider employing when it comes time for you so start playing fantasy football and choosing top picks this season.

First of all, when your fantasy draft rolls around, think depth. Rare is the fantasy season in which all of your players go untouched by the injury bug. Couple that with bye weeks and you will see how important depth is. So how do you draft depth? You have to think about what you are going to look for as the draft progresses. Watch for third year wide outs that may come into their own once they understand their team’s offense. They make great backups because it can take a few weeks for the breakout to happen. Also, look for hot rookies who may surge late to sure up your second and third string.

Secondly, you can’t really over manage your team. Every week that you are playing fantasy football you need to be paying attention to the details of your team. Because you drafted for a deep team, you are going to have decisions to make about your starting lineup every single week of the season. Look at matchups and how your players have done against opponents in the past. Trends can help you a lot if you see them. So use the internet to get information, stats, and to know when an injury can sway things your way or away from you.

Third, throughout your season of playing fantasy football, you should keep a close eye on free agents, the waiver wire, and try to make at least a couple of trades. Even if you had a really good draft, the way the season develops will help you with what changes you need to make to get over the top. Use your deep draft to sure up your starters and tighten your lineup as crunch time approaches.

Finally, make sure you are highly familiar with your league’s scoring system. Different fantasy football leagues emphasize different stats. Make sure you know, as you make trades and sign players, whether you need yards, touchdowns, or some other stat to catch those players ahead of you. It is easy to make assumptions, but sometimes a mediocre player can be great for your team if he can get you that one stat you need.

Playing fantasy football and choosing top picks is a science to many. However, these tips mostly fall under the category of common sense. If you follow them then you will have a fantastic chance of making the playoffs. Once you are in the playoffs, anything can happen; anything, including you winning it all and taking home money or bragging rights.

Weight Training For Golf - In Your Own Home

Posted by admin on April 7, 2008 in Sports Management

Weight training for golf is viewed by golfers as a lot of work,
time-consuming, boring and you need a gym membership to do it.
None of the above is true, and if you read this article, I’ll
explain why.

You see…weight training for golf isn’t on machines
anyways…so that eliminates the requirement of a gym. It’s not
a lot of work, if you pick and choose the area you want to focus
on. It’s not time-consuming if you do it in the convenience of
your home, and have a plan of action. And lastly, it can be a
lot of fun, when you use bands, exercise balls and training
equipment specific to golf.

There many “so-called” weight training for golf programs, but
when you take a look at them, you’ll see pictures of golfers
sitting on their butts in a machine. I don’t know about you, but
I think golf is done “on your feet”, right?

Weight training for golf is close to becoming “mainstream” with
the golfing community. We see and hear all the pros doing it and
playing their best golf; so why wouldn’t we amateurs do it also?

There are so many reasons why to participate in a weight
training for golf program, that you can’t overlook it and say
you don’t need it.

Lacking power in your swing? It’s because your body can’t
produce any stored energy from a full backswing with torque in
your core. That’s a ‘physical’ issue, not mechanical.

Is your golf swing inconsistent from one swing to the next?
Swing faults originate from some deeper physical limitation
that’s not allowing you to make a mechanically sound and
repeatable swing. How many times have you taken a lesson and
heard your pro say, “you need to make a full backswing”, but you
just can’t physically do it? That’s a ‘physical’ issue, not
mechanical.

How about injuries? Do you have one at the moment? The golf
swing is physically damaging to the body if you don’t have
enough strength and flexibility to withstand the force the golf
swing puts on it. Swinging a 3 foot long lever (club) at up to
90 mph is unbelievably stressful on the joints, ligaments,
tendons and muscles of the body. That’s a ‘physical’ issue, not
mechanical.

I could go on and on, but I think you might get the idea by now.

Weight training for golf may be your “missing link” to your best
game ever! If you’ve tried all the ‘other’ methods, this is the
ONLY one left. Why wouldn’t you explore the possibilities a
little more?

If you’re looking to add power to your golf swing; improve your
consistency; and prevent golf injuries, then you’ve got to
consider weight training for golf.

Hey stupid, you ran over my kid’s Barbie..

Posted by admin on April 4, 2008 in Sports Management

Personal experiences at a public skatepark.

Vision this. You and your friends have been riding for about an
half hour on your BMX bike or skateboard at the local public
skatepark and suddenly a mini van pulls into the parking lot and
out of a van, kids between the ages of 3 to 7 years old come
flying out the sidedoor. They run past the playground and go
straight to the skatepark, half of them riding bikes with
training wheels and big wheels and the other half sliding down
the ramps like a slide at the playground. You go across the
skatepark heading towards a quarterpipe and attempt to ice pick
it and you narrowly miss one of the little ones. The freighted
lad or lassie runs off to mommy or daddy who is sitting on the
picnic table reading a magazine, not paying attention to the
kids, gets up and comes strutting like a rutting buck and
proceeds to rip you a new one. After hearing a bunch of colorful
words that would make a sailor blush, you exclaim that you are
sorry and explain that it is a skatepark designed for
skateboarding, BMX bikes and blading. The parent says it doesn’t
matter, my kid or kids can go wherever they like in this park.
They may even demand that their kids can use the skatepark for
themselves and you can have the bank in the corner to ride. It
is probably not hard to envision for most riders that use the
local public skatepark on a regular basis.

After they are done at the skatepark, will the little ones go to
the softball diamond and use their Tonka Trucks on the pitcher’s
mound during a ballgame? Or play dolls in a horseshoe pit while
some one is using the pits exclaiming the park is entirely
theirs to use as much as everyone else? Of course not. Why do
they try it at the skatepark?

After observing and being part of the strange and bizarre
phenomena for some time, we came to the conclusion that either
the parents and kids don’t really understand what the skatepark
is really about, or they are looking for a free ticket to sue
and using their kids to do it, or they really don’t care.

Regardless of the reason, the best thing to do is leave and ride
street or ride your ramps at home if you have some. Leaving is
the only way to win in a situation such as this. Maybe a sign
should be installed on the skatepark stating “This Skatepark is
designed for BMX bikes, Skateboarding and Aggressive Inline
Skating”.
