The poker flop is what makes your hand. Even great starting hands like pocket Aces or Big Slick can turn into garbage if the flop puts a flush on the board or neither the Ace or King is paired, and hands like 5-2 unsuited can flop into a straight or even a full house. Flops are rarely this well defined, however, and some flops can be dangerously enticing. Here are a few that can get you into trouble.
High pair can be (and often is) a winning online poker hand, but it’s a scary one. If there’s not flush or straight draw on the board, you may lose sight of your other card. If someone else has the same high card that you’ve got, you had better have a great kicker. It’s an awful feeling to turn over your pair of Aces with a 9 kicker and see the guy across from you turn over an Ace-10.
Suited boards should terrify you. Unless you’ve got a piece of the suit or you’re holding onto a full boat, there’s a chance that someone’s got you beat. Even if you’ve got a pair or two, you’d probably be better off letting go of your hand. Remember this when you play online poker.
Playing poker online for real money requires self-confidence. It is scary to take risks with chips when there is real money involved. If you are lacking experience, then play the free online games to build up your confidence before investing any money in poker online.
Some players take the confidence factor too far though. After winning a few hands, they believe themselves to be invincible at the online poker table and make foolish bets. When ego gets in the way of your betting decisions, then you are going to make mistakes.

When someone loses to you, be gracious about it instead of criticizing their play. Ego can make a player hold onto a losing hand even in the face of obvious defeat. These players refuse to back down and wind up losing their chips. Playing confidently means you can recognize when your cards are beat and release them into the muck. This is a sign of a strong player rather than weak play.
If you brag about your abilities and hand, you will become a target at the table that other player will want to beat.
Survival horror games represent a seperate genre of the video game industry. Resident Evil is most often cited as the originator of survival horror, though many consider Nintendo’s Sweet Home to be the original. Resident evil certainly is the most influential game in the genre.
Survival horror games require the player to survive an invasion or disaster, usually of a supernatural origin. Undead creatures are a common antagonist. Typically, the player is trapped in an isolated location and must make it to safety. This requires fighting a large number of monsters.
While the description may sound like first person shooter games, survival horror protagonists tend to be less prepared for their tasks. Their weapons are fewer and less deadly. The player character also tends to be an untrained fighter, where many first person shooters involve soldiers, gunslingers and other trained fighters.
Puzzle solving is also more prominent in survival horror. Inspiration for the settings and villains are often drawn from horror movies, especially the zombie movie craze.
Though survival horror truly emerged in the mid 1990’s. Technological innovation allowed for better graphics and larger gaming enviroments. This allowed the designers to explore horror elements, which for the first time might be considered “frightening”. Before this, ghosts and monsters were little more than cartoonish.
But there were several games which influenced later survival horror. Among these were Ghost Hunters, Transylvania and Splatterhouse. Ghost Hunters was a 1986 release for C64. Transylvania was a computer game for the Apple II system, also released in 1986. Splatterhouse was a 1988 release by the people at Turbografx-16. But the real inspiration for Resident Evil was a Japanese game named Sweet Home.
“Alone in the Dark”, a game designed by Infogrames in 1992, also contributed to the genre. It was based on H.P. Lovecraft’s Call of Cthulhu mythos. Infogrames was a French firm now owned by Atari.

Sit and go tournaments replicate the poker style that most of us grew up with. In this style of tournament, there is just one table with a set number of players. It is just like the casual game with your friends, where there is not a line to fill an empty chair or multiple tables that you need to cycle through. Most of the larger tournaments use a multitabled structure because there are simply too many people to arrange sit and go tournaments. It would not be very productive for a casino to hold multiple sit and gos when they can hold a traditional tournament with one big, attention grabbing winner.
Because of this unique situation, most of the sit and go tournaments available to poker players are online. Up until recently in fact, sit and go tournaments could only be found online. Luckily this has changed in the last couple of years and some casinos now offer sit and go tournaments on a limited basis. On Cake Poker, as you play online poker cash games, people are randomly awarded “gold cards”. The beauty was that this was after the rebuy period was over, for the most part. The players had tightened up and my short stack was still a significant part of their mid-sized stacks. Unless they had a great hand, they could not call my all-in with out feeling like they were gambling.

In poker online , calling a bet is usually a sign that someone wants to see another card and is more than willing to see it cheaply. ON the other hand, it may mean that another poker online player is trying to trap you. Say you’re playing a hand and the flop comes out 7 of spades-8 of spades-8 of hearts. You bet into it, and another player just calls. This could mean one of two things. One, he missed the flop completely but doesn’t want to back out, he’s holding a 7 and wants to see if he can get another one on the turn for a full boat, or he’s on a flush draw and is hoping to get it with the turn. On the other hand, he might have a good hand already, like trip 8’s, or a 7-8 for the full house. He doesn’t want to scare you out of the pot, so he’ll just call your bet and hope that you put him on garbage and raise him again after the next card. It’s dangerous to make assume that because a poker online player bets in a certain way that you know what he’s going to do. When someone calls or raises your bet, consider what you know about him as a player before you make your next move.
Oh poker, you can be such a cruel mistress to us sometimes. Often, with all the hours a poker player may spend poring over strategy, reading books, and learning pot odds, one sometimes forgets that luck oft plays the biggest role in all when winning or losing a pot. I was playing a tournament recently, and everything was going along smoothly. It was in the middle, we had been playing for a little while and I had amassed a nice chip stack with some aggressive betting and a few good hands. Now, I was on the button and got dealt an A-K, and made a decent sized raise. The guy in the big blind made a gigantic re-raise, like about ten times the size of the pot. Everyone else folded and it was back to me.
Now, I wondered, why did this guy make such a huge raise? The only things I really feared were AA or KK, and if he had those I would think he’d want me to call, and not make such a strangely large raise. I deduced he had Ace-rag, or a middling pair, and was just looking to take the pot right there.
Well, I re-raised him all in, and he quickly called. Oh no, I thought, he must have AA if he called me!! Well, as it turned out, the idiot only had A-3! Imagine my surprise when the flop came out A-3-7, and nary a king to be seen on the turn or river. Oh well, such is life, and such is poker.
