Will the Xbox 360 Have an Achilles Heel?

Posted by admin on March 30, 2009 in Games + Cheats

The Xbox 360 is promising to be a phenomenal console. But despite all the bells and whistles and an improved game selection, it may still have an achilles heel that keeps it from grabbing new buyers from Playstation.

Not only will the slick Xbox 360 design build on the grean and black of the original, you will be able to snap on customizable face plates for your own look. In answer to the dismay over the apparent lack of an included hard drive, it was recently announced at http://www.xbox-games.xbox-360-news.info that attachable hard drives will be available. No harm done.

The Xbox 360 will include a much hyped “Ring of Light” and Xbox Guide Button on the xbox controller. This button will ” connect you to your games, digital media, and the world of Xbox Live “, but I still see the controller as having a potential deal-killer. It’s about control.

The Xbox 360 controller appears to still hae the same button configuration at the previous incarnations. That setup, tho adequate for many games, doesn’t work well with one of the best selling game franchises of all time, the madden football series. Altho the xbox controller’s trigger works extremely well for 1st person shooter games, it lacks 2 additional buttons in the trigger areas, which means fewer control options.

For instance, Madden football games on the playstation consoles use the 2nd button for additional audibles, and quick decision options during any play. The Xbox 360 controller, lacking those two buttons, means any Madden player will be limited.

Let’s cross our fingers and pray to the powers that be that the Xbox 360 controller is as versatile as the Sony counterpart.

Jay Turner is certifiable nut case who is obsessed with computer games and console systems. He runs a blog dedicated to the as-of-yet unreleased Xbox 360 at http://www.xbox-games.xbox-360-news.info

Nautical Star tattoos the history, meaning and symbolism: a

Posted by admin on March 29, 2009 in Pastime

The history, meaning and symbolism of nautical star tattoos is
a hotly debated topic. Today many different groups have
adopted the Nautical star tattoo as a symbol for their own
movement and they have all ascribed their own meaning and
history to the symbol. Thus has lead to a wide
disagreement as the the meaning of the tattoo.

Historically
most everyone agrees that Sailors were the first people to get
nautical star tattoos. In fact the very word nautical
relates back to sailing. So this connection has been
pretty firmly established. Most people would agree the
sailors were a pretty superstitious group historically and
sailor lore abounds with superstitious and fantastical stories
of life and death and being lost at sea. Early on
sailors navigated by the stars at night and the north star
became the symbol for finding ones way home. Once you
know where the north star is you can point your ship in the
right direction to get home. So the star became a symbol
for finding ones way home or more symbolically even finding
ones path in life. Therefore many sailors would tattoo
nautical stars on their forearms as a good luck symbol in
hopes of returning home.

However their modern day meaning is a more debated topic.
Many believe that groups including gay and lesbians, punk
rockers and those in the military have adopted the nautical
star tattoo as a very important symbol. The diversity of
these three groups has lead many to argue the meaning of their
tattoos.

For the military the connection is pretty obviously point
back to the early sailors and the symbolism and meaning is the
same as the early sailors. Many military people get a
nautical star tattoo as a symbol for finding ones path home
safely. Of course this can also include more
symbolically just finding ones way in life.

Here is a quote we found from a member of the armed
services and his interpretation of the tattoo:

Music For A Better Life

Posted by admin on in Pastime

Would you like to pop in a CD and have a better quality of life, and even self improvement? There are three ways you can use music to accomplish this.

Music For Motivation

Put on energetic music, and even doing housework seems less like work. Using music to motivate yourself or change your mood is an area where you can trust your experience and experimentation. When you find the msic that energizes you, relaxes you, or makes you happy, keep it ready for when you need it.

Music For Intelligence

Music creates neural pathways in your brain that stimulate creativity. Studies show that music trains the brain for higher forms of thinking. In one study, three-year-olds were split into two groups. The first had no special training in, or exposure to music. The second group studied piano and sang daily in chorus.

Eight months later the musical three-year-olds were much better at solving puzzles. They also scored 80% higher in spatial intelligence than the other group. There’s also anectdotal evidence that listening to music, especially from Mozart’s era, can help you study and learn better.

Hopefully there will be more research. In the meantime there’s no reason not to do your own experimentation. I’ve heard that Stephen King writes with loud rock music playing, so the benefits of music may be according to your own tastes or brain-organization.

Music For Brainwave Entrainment

Want to listen to some music, and get smarter, or have instant easy meditation? There are products now that “entrain” your brainwaves, in order to put you in a meditative state. Music is embedded with beats and pulses that entrain your brain waves to a specific frequency. Put in the right CD or MP3 for your activity, and you get better brain function. Science? Partly.

Brain wave frequencies vary with mental state. Daydreaming and light meditation take place in the “Alpha” range of frequencies, for example. So if you listen to music containing beats at a frequency of 10 Hz you will generate more brainwaves at a 10 Hz frequency and enter a relaxed Alpha mental state. Do these things really work?

Yes. I’ve found two products that put me in a peaceful state unlike any other music or meditative practice. Studies will prove the effects (some have already), and disprove the wilder claims. Given my results, however, I wouldn’t wait for more research. Many things work long before the scientific proof arrives.

If you are skeptical, you can wait for more evidence of the benefits of brainwave entrainment. Meanwhile, why not try classical music when you study, just to see if it helps? Experiment with music - Mozart isn’t dangerous.

History of Olmec Civilisation

Posted by admin on March 26, 2009 in History Hub

A History of Olmec Civilization.
The first relatively modern awakening to the existance of the Olmecs
was when plantation workers in 1862 came upon hat they thought was a large, buried, iron kettle. Upon further excavation, and driven by thoughts of buried treasure, they finally excavated a huge stone carved head, which turned out to be the first Olmec sculpture to be discovered in Mexico.

OLMEC ORIGINS.
Who were the Olmecs? What is known about them is that they preceded the Mayans in Mesoamaerica, and are thought to be the foundation of all subsequent cultures in that part of the Americas, though there is evidence of humans going back to 20,000 B.C. There will always be differing opinions when it comes to dates, but the Olmes are believed to have originated in around 1250 B.C. and disappeared around 400 B.C. A common feature with theirs and later civilisations were that they:-

Followed a 365 day year.
Built pyraminds.
Cultivated corn.
All had similar religious rituals and the same Gods of fertility, war, sky & nature.

Regarding the thick-lipped Negroid features of their carvings, some
researchers postulate that the Olmecs originally came from Africa, and
indeed their language is very similar to that spoken today in Mali. Details of facial scaring & lines on Olmec statues also bear similarities to tribal marks found among the Yoruba peoples of West Africa.

OLMEC LANDS.
Their range of influence extended from the Tuxtlas mountains in the
west, to Contalpa in the eastern Mexican lowlands, around the Gulf of
Mexico area. The three largest Olmec cities were:-

La Venta in Tabasco (the eastern sector), dominated the rich coastal
estuaries, including the cocao, rubber & salt trade.

San Lorenzo Tenochtitlan in Veracruz was at the center of the Olmec civilization, and an important political/religious center, which controlled the vast flood plains of the Coatzacoalco basin and river trade routes. The first drainage system in Mesoamerica was discovered there, consisting of channeled blocks of stone set into the earth, covered with slabs. Their region is also famous for the colossal basalt carved heads, weighing 20-40 tons each.

Laguna de los Cerros, also in Veracruz, to the West, controlled the
important basalt mines/mountains, important for the manufacture of Metates (stones for grinding food), & monuments.

OLMEC ART.
The Olmecs must have had a high regard for art as many cave paintings & huge stone scullptures have been found, along with jade artefacts & statues. Typical Olmec art featured jaguars, thick-lipped soldiers and goatee-bearded men and often a combination of jaguar and children. As they believed themselves to be descendants of the Jaguar, the animal was held in very high esteem, often featuring in religious ceremonies. Some of these huge carved stone heads have been found up to 100km away from the source of stone, leaving researchers still wondering exactly how they managed to transport such massive pieces those distances, though the most likeliest explanation must be that they floated them on barges down the extensive network of rivers.

WORK & PLAY.
Rubber was first exloited by the Olmecs and various carvings show ball
games where the ball could be deflected off elbows, hips, knees and
head, though using the hands was considered an illegal move. Initially,
the Olmecs in the swampy tropical heartland lived a hunter-gatherer
lifestyle, later spreading to outlying areas and developing agriculture and distinct political & economic hierarchies as wealth and commerce with outside people grew.

RELIGION Olmec religion featured mainly worship of the Jaguar and Werejaguars (children with Jaguar features), though snake worship was popular too. They believed that the Jaguar was very closely associated with a person’s spirit and that should the Jaguar die, the person would also die. In common with all religions, to maintain their position in society the Olmec ruling elite needed to make the people believe either that they were Gods or that they were associated with The Gods (Gods of Fire, Water, Earth & Sun were the popular deities).

Their religion, symbolic language and archtictural systems seemed strong & popular enough to have lasted through to the Zapotecs, Teotihuacans and Mayan peoples, until everything changed with the Spanish conquests of Hernandez Cortez and Spanish influence. That of the Catholic Church being especially instrumental in destroying the old
Gods and bringing a new one that eventually spread throughout the
whole of South America.

Some might argue that Catholicism brought about changes for good and others point to the great poverty of the majority of predominantly Catholic South America.

Whatever your opinions, I will just leave you with this thought:-

“Religion is regarded by the common people as true,
by the wise as false, and by rulers as convenient.”

Seneca the Younger. (3 B.C.-65 A.D.)

Foreclosure Madness

Posted by admin on March 25, 2009 in Finance Matters, Useful Tips

Often times, individuals have to select between filing financial insolvency or allowing their mortgage lender to foreclose their home. If monthly house payments are not made, the bank may file for a foreclosure on the home. You may disrupt the house foreclosure process by paying the bank that holds your mortgage . Mortgage loans are just like automobile loans; if you can not pay your monthly payments you always will have it repossessed. It is essentially the same for everybody who has not been able to pay his mortgage, the bank can foreclose on the home.

Insolvency proceedings are a legal act that is registered by somebody who is not able to pay her debts. Once bankruptcy is filed, all current civil proceedings connected with the home loan will be put on hold. Consequently, a home loan bank must stop all collection processes. However, a lender may apply for relief from the required stay, and once it is allowed, may go ahead with the aforementioned process. Filing for Bankruptcy will not stop foreclosure and you still must pay back your loan. Going into bankruptcy will not solve the underlying issue, it simply makes the foreclosure process go forward slowly.

Even though insolvency is not going to permanently stop a foreclosure, it might give an individual enough time to pay back the past due or at a minimum it does make it tiny bit more accessible to pay back the home loan lender. Insolvency proceedings necessitates a home loan lender to suspend foreclosure actions, a debtor will have a little time to produce the money necessary to pay back the lender. The final option for any debtor to file for financial insolvency when the debtor is completely incapable of to meeting their creditor’s commitments. Under insolvency, some debts will in all likelihood be dismissed but the real estate loan will not be discharged. The borrower must be willing and able to pay back the home loan inside the required time as the debt is guaranteed by real property. Also, Chapter 13 insolvency has a schedule of payments that is ordered by the bankruptcy court, that will permit the debtor make payments on her mortgage to get caught up to date on their balance.

Before the consumer successfully files for bankruptcy, they must qualify. If they do qualify, there will be legal fees. It may cost the borrower more in legal fees than if they were to just pull the belt tighter and make your mortgage payment. If you are thinking that filing for bankruptcy may be a solution to the situation, a good attorney will likely be able to answer any questions you have. Because bankruptcy is extremely complicated, house owner should not set about to do it without help from a an attorney.

This is not legal advice. Contact a bankruptcy attorney in your municipality for bankruptcy advice advice.

Reinvigorating the Nations Love of Carpet

Posted by admin on March 20, 2009 in Useful Tips, Web Of Home Improvement

Industry figures show that sales of stripe pattern carpet have grown by up to 200 per cent this year as influences from the fashion world continue to infiltrate interior design, providing exciting, hip flooring ideas for the home.

For a sizeable amount of time it has been noted that there is a relationship between interior trends and fashion; there is also an agreement among interior designers that it’s great fun to be working with carpet again after years of having to focus on alternative flooring choices such as wood. A stripy pattern can be put to effective use in flooring and can be used as a great asset when designing. They can be used to lengthen rooms, change perspective, and bring together much wider colour palettes than would otherwise be possible.

There is a consensus among those in the interior design and fashion industry that a lot of the iconic styles which made an appearance in the 70’s have started to become popular again in regards to carpet. In regards to colour, on trend customers and interior designers have been requesting old-school 70’s shades such as deep purple, tangerine orange, and forest green.

The online carpet retailer Fun on the Floor are creating a unique space to showcase such carpet ideas. What is being called the Fun on the Floor House will act as a showroom through a medley of creatively designed rooms that feature carpet in stunning, creative and unique ways based on whats popular in the interior design industry at the moment. The house will initially be open by invitation to trade, national, consumer, regional journalists as well as key influencers such as interior designers, production companies for a free shoot location up until December.

To mark the resurgence Danielle Proud, a well known interior designer, is creating a quirky, themed, styled space that features six contrasting themed rooms. The Fun on the Floor house will demonstrate how carpet as a material can transform a home without costing an arm and a leg through a combination of texture, style and colour. Visitors can expect to explore the sensorial nature of carpet, appreciate its luxurious look and enjoy the fluffy feeling underfoot - not to mention appreciate its sound absorbing qualities.

Leading fashion gurus like Paul Smith have played a pivotal role in inspiring the strong range of colours we now see in striped carpet collections. Some of these new styles are being given headline space in the interior design industry and cladding the coolest floors across the UK. Loud coloured stripes can add an extra bit of zeal to neutrally decorated rooms, or make a subtle impact, complementing different scale striped soft furnishings.

Monterey Movie Madness Tours

Quick . . . think of a West Coast location where more than 200 movies have been shot. If you’re thinking of California, you’re right. But if you answered Monterey, about two hours south of San Francisco, then you probably have already taken Doug Lumsden’s Monterey Movie Tour. If you’re not clued into Monterey’s movie history, climb aboard, and let Doug show you how much Hollywood loves Monterey.

Right away, I know this is not an ordinary canned tour. Doug tailors his tour to our group an older family from the East Coast, a bunch of locals, and a film student. From his library of dozens of film clips, he shows those we know, and some that each generation will recognize.

More Than 100 Years Of Celluloid

Directors and cinematographers have been drawn to this area since 1897, when a cameraman working for Thomas Edison shot the pounding Monterey surf and filmed carriages arriving at the swanky Hotel Del Monte (now the Naval Post-Graduate School). Filmmakers from Cecil B. DeMille to Alfred Hitchcock have flocked to the Monterey Peninsula ever since, seeking the perfect backdrops for their shots.

Monterey has doubled for many famous places over the years, including Marin County’s Stinson Beach in “Basic Instinct”; Sausalito in “Star Trek IV”; Louisiana swampland in “The Muppet Movie”; and the 19th-century Baltic coast in budget-movie-king, Roger Corman’s “The Terror”.

“We’re in Movieland,” Doug chimes out. He was born in Monterey County, and his father was a friend of Clint Eastwood’s dad; they were both in the lettuce industry. Doug’s dad also was roommates with Jimmy Stewart in WWII, just after he won the Oscar for “Philadelphia Story”. Doug’s movie roots fuel his enthusiasm. Not only is he the president of the Monterey Film Commission, but also he’s a great source of local history and lore better known as small-town gossip.

Where the Locals Go

Doug is the owner, tour guide, and driver. After 22 years in banking, and seeing customer service go down the tubes, he decided to follow his dad’s inspiration and start celebrating his hometown. Doug had been providing generic scenic tours, as if any scenery in Monterey is generic! But in 2003, to honor the new DVD release of Clint Eastwood’s “Play Misty For Me”, Doug organized a special movie tour. Because “Misty” was filmed entirely in the Monterey area, choosing just a few locations for the opening was a challenge, but the event gave Doug the idea to create a movie tour. If you’re like me, and like to go where the locals go, this tour is it.

What You’ll See

First, you’ll see a comfortable, 32-seat bus with overhead TV monitors and headsets for listening to Doug’s commentary and the movie clips he shows. He is terrific at showing snippets just before you arrive at the location. When we first boarded the bus, we watched a scene from “A Summer Place”, with Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. Our first stop was Colton Hall that doubled as Sandra’s girls’ school. Today, this historical museum was the home of the California Constitution.

Most of the movies made on the Monterey Peninsula were created in the 1920s about 30 films but continued to be recognized at the Oscars through the 1950s in “Mutiny on the Bounty” (1935), “Captains Courageous” (1937), “National Velvet” (1944), “From Here to Eternity” (1953), and “East of Eden” (1955). Monterey has also been featured in some real flops, and Doug shows a bit of these just for fun.

Xbox Game Rentals - Rent your Favorite Xbox Games

Posted by admin on in Games + Cheats

If you’ve been living on this planet for the last year, you will know how invaluable online video game rentals are to the serious gamer. Are all online rental companies created equally and do they support the game consoles you own. Today, we will be investigating into which rental club offers the best quality selection of Xbox video game rentals.

Our team researched a number of online game clubs to see which one offers the best selection of Xbox video games with quality points awarded to the clubs who had the best selection of new releases, classic Xbox games, and hard-to-find games as well. Out of 7 online rental game clubs, only 3 were viable and worthy enough to put this analysis to the test. These clubs were Gottaplay, GameFly, and Intelliflix, 3 of the major players within the online game rental realm.

Gottaplay Xbox Rentals
Gottaplay rental company is fast becoming one of the best online rental game companies in the US, trailing right next to GameFly. They are the first online company of their kind that offers phone support to all their customers, along with a massive game selection. Gottaplay has a large selection of Xbox games within their arsenal, here are the stats that we came up with:
1. Xbox Game Selection: Roughly 600 Xbox titles
2. New Release Titles: Carried all New Releases
3. Classic Game Titles: Many Xbox classics were included such as Halo, Soul Caliber, and other great titles of the past.
4. Hard-to-Find Games: Many games that we never even knew about were included within their selection. If you want to play a game with little or no popularity, Gottaplay has this covered as well.
5. Xbox 360 titles: Roughly 50 Xbox 360 titles and growing.

GameFly Xbox Rentals
GameFly has been leading the online video game rental revolution for quite some time and were the first advertised company to make this service public. This company is the oldest and many believe the leader within the game rental world. One thing is for sure, when it comes to Xbox game rentals, they sure don’t lack in selection and quality. Lets take a look:
1. Xbox Game Selection: Roughly 700 Xbox titles
2. New Release Titles: Carried all New Releases. Even carry up-to-date cheats, walkthroughs, and reviews of all their latest titles.
3. Classic Game Titles: Many Xbox classics were included. Coudn’t really find any Xbox title was not included in their inventory.
4. Hard-to-Find Games: Many games that we never even knew about were included within their selection, but most of their game selection comprised of newer titles.
5. Xbox 360 titles: Roughly 60 Xbox 360 titles and growing. They offer cheats, reviews, walkthroughs, and instruction manuals located within their website.

Intelliflix Xbox Rentals
Intelliflix has definately reached out to a market that some gamers have been requesting for years. That is movie, game, and adult titles selection all within one central online gaming facility. This company had a great selection of Xbox rentals available when considering the wide market area that they cover with video games and movies. Although their Xbox game rentals weren’t as hefty as the top 2 competitors, they were definately worth mentioning.
1. Xbox Game Selection: Roughly 400 Xbox titles
2. New Release Titles: Carried all New Releases and have posts of up-and-coming releases as well.
3. Classic Game Titles: Many classics were included.
4. Hard-to-Find Games: Yes, they had these covered as well. You will find a wide array of games you never knew were invented within this selection.
5. Xbox 360 titles: Roughly 35 Xbox 360 titles and growing. Still a great selection of newer titles.

Honestly, you really can’t go wrong with any of the 3 rental clubs mentioned above. For more of a diverse and massive selection, I would highly reccommend GameFly next in line to Gottaplay. They definately have the market covered within this category of console games.

The Thriving Trans National Real Estate Marketplace — Futhered by Property Index

Posted by admin on March 17, 2009 in Online Information

Notwithstanding the Property Index service may be considered a pretty young concern, doing business only since March 2007, they were very quick to achieve expert status. As a matter of fact, they are a extremely unceremonious concern devoted to counseling every customer determined to rent, buy, etc. real estate just about anywhere. They avow to lend you a hand to pinpoint bang-on what you desire quickly and sans hassle.

Property is easily available just about anywhere at present, undoubtedly the high-class area being real property on the market in the United States. It’s easy as ABC to tally the superb properties you can purchase in the United States, the reason for looking for realty here is real property on the market and the possibility of spending your life together with such a lively populace. It’s one of the truly favored regions at present, and in view of the beauty and the great climate surrounding you here, how could you conceivably go wrong… Property in the United States is very rich in history, culture and art, this country is home to a lot of sophisticated cultures.

For the finest selection of US properties check out Property Index.

About twenty years ago you would find just a trickle of Britons who are looking for properties in the United States. Just ask any individual who has removed to the United States and they’re likely to tell you the same. There are those who would insist on labeling it a short-lived rage and others insist on labeling it a virtually an addiction… People willing to move here extend from yuppie couples looking for a challenge in life to pensioners who intend to enjoy themselves and take it easy. Note that you may have to wrestle with a few setbacks when trying to buy properties in a foreign market — there’ll be a million varied, pretty complex, steps be it when strategizing, touring or finalising. Even if one minor action is missed this will well trigger dramatic setbacks and, critically, money loss.

Obviously and expectably with this popular destination, properties may be extraordinarily dear in this location and this, of course, is absolutely a consequence of the increasing buyer demand. Yet, the customer really is pretty spoilt in a location boasting such a bright site and terrific surroundings. It can offer just about all you may feasibly imagine and lots more.

My Trip to Hawaii

Posted by admin on March 16, 2009 in Adventure Stuff, Beauty Products, Travel Hub

This post is from our recent trip to Oahu. Ive got to tell you, if you ever have the opportunity to make it to Honolulu, you should absolutely take the offer. It has to be one of the most gorgeous places in the U.S.. It is so amazing to have such a special location in our country.

The hospitality there is amazing. We took a surf lesson, rode a canoe, saw a few hula demonstrates and even had a chance to try out some real Hawaiian food at a luau. They say ono out there, it means delicious. The Kalua Pig is to die for and be sure to stop by for a lava flow night cap at Dukes. Its a little spot on Waikiki beach, great for an evening cocktail. One of the most memorable aspects was when we treated ourselves to a massage in Honolulu. It was stunning, super relaxing and well deserved after a hard years work.

Hawaii is wonderful. Don’t stress that you won’t do it all, because you can’t. Figure out what is most important to you and concentrate on that. Take time to unwind and savor just being there. Needless to say, we will be going back as soon as possible.
