Lets Learn Some Wind Power History

Posted by admin

Since the times that mankind started to understand about energy, wind has been a major player and a very powerful resource of energy. The first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is of course sailing boats that probably are the true first appearance of wind power in history. The concept of being able to rapidly move on water created a strong understanding that the same technique could have been applied to more terrestrial items, such as mills for example. This generated a fast series of events that led to today’s more sophisticated wind towers that can be spotted in many places and that generate tons of energy for our every day activities.

Another important element in wind power history is with no doubt the invention of the propeller and its applications. The propeller, like the sail, is the tool that allows capturing the wind and eventually turning it into energy, without propellers we could never fully take advantage of wind power like we are doing today. Many believe that wind power history is as important as the one of solar and water, because these three elements represent the strongest sources of energy, although oil turned to be to most widely used and commercialized.
